pattern project drapery inspired by the passage of time during one’s artistic process.
motif of four squares follows a pattern of light and shadow that gradually shifts in color, quality, gauge, and positioning, aligning with the sun’s journey in the sky throughout the day while one is engulfed in creating. temporality is also expressed through the method of making - crochet is a fully handmade art form through which individual stitches capture the maker’s attention and efforts.
process work + pattern iterations
final product measures 32” x 60” with an 8” x 30” repeat. the textile is entirely handmade, with over 50 hours of work recorded within its stitches.the drapery has another element as its woven composition allows for speckled patterns to be created with light, capturing the passage of the sun.
